My Kindness Challenge was a success and over 450 pair of mens, womens, and childrens socks were gifted at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission’s annual Thanksgiving dinner on 11-25-09. Seventy-two stocking hats were also given out.
I would like to thank all of those who assisted in collecting these and in helping tie each pair of socks with beautiful ribbons. Each pair carried the message; You are a part of God’s plan. Walk in His grace.
A seven-year-old boy, Blaze Trumble, had over 600 blankets and coats that he and his family had collected for the homeless. This was Blaze’s second year of donating his time and effort toward doing this wonderful work for other people. I can’t help but stop and think that if only a few other young people would follow Blaze’s example of humanitarianism, what a wonderful world this would be. Blaze has his own website at www.blazeswish.com. I might add, 11-25-09, was his 7th birthday!

This non-profit organization is in memory and in honor of Staff Sgt Marc J. Small who was killed in action in February of 2009 while serving his country in Afghanistan.
Small Steps In Speech is a non-profit organization that assists children with speech and language disorders. It is a means to help fund the progress towards their speech and language goals. We are looking for both donations to continue our efforts in helping children with their communication as well as accepting nominations on who is most deserving to receive this grant. Our goal is to give children the chance to better express themselves in the world in which we live. With your help, you can change the life of not only a child but also their family.
Humpty Dumpty is on the move! He recently went to State Line for a shopping trip and to pick-up some California Lottery Tickets. We hope he’s a big winner, but in case he’s not in the monetary world, he was on top of the Christmas train that was just set up by two lovely ladies from Henderson, NV. They were so proud to have Humpty Dumpty as one of their first holiday travelers.
I’m writing articles on Mr. H.D.’s adventures. He’s feeling pretty much the celebrity status these days. In a couple of weeks he’s headed toward Monument Valley, Historic Durango, CO, Mesa Verde National Park, and he wants to ride on the 125 year old railroad (especially now that he’s had a taste of trains at State Line!).
There’s soooooo much more to Humpty Dumpty than meets the eye. I’m glad he found a home with us. Thank you, Ben, for the gift of H.D.
