My Mom ~ where life is more important than age
I took my mother to get a small cancer removed from up by her eye yesterday. She was not fearful. She was not alone.
When we got to her home and she exited the car, a bit more stressed than usual, she simply said with a chuckle, ”You’d think I was an old lady.”
My mother is 87 years young. She continues to work full time at the Five Star Wynn Resort on the Las Vegas Strip. She is known as Grandma Mary in the employee gift shop. She has NEVER been late for work. Has won employee awards, and greets each customer as if he/she were her first.
Live your life and forget your age.

I am so glad that everything went ok with the surgery and that Grandma was her same old self. She is so full of joy and is so thoutfull. She never forgets your birthday or any holiday for that matter and she is just an amazing grandma and I am so greatfull to have her in my life!
Great story, thanks for sharing. I plan to be in Las Vegas next month and the Wynn is a definite stop. Hope I get the chance to meet your mom.
She has a positive attitude and a sense of humor about life!
Gina, thank you so much for the great comment. You will certainly enjoy Las Vegas in February – my favorite time of the year out here. The Wynn is a MUST see. My mother works in the employee gift shop and guests are not allowed in that area of the casino. Everyone loves her there. Our son, Doug, also works at the Wynn, in the Spa. It is sooooo wonderful and unusual that they work together in a city such as this.
My best to you.

Ben, we all love you and Jamie so much. You are right, Grandma Kepler NEVER forgets anyone’s birthday or holiday. She doesn’t know I posted this but I plan to show her when she is over here. She will be amazed at all of the warm responses on FaceBook as well. She is taking an extra day off of work this week but plans to go back on Friday. She AMAZES all of us.
Hello Mary! I am so glad to hear that your surgery went well, and that you have BOUNCED BACK to being your energetic positive self without missing a beat! You are certainly one of my role models, one of my “other mothers” who has loved me and nurtured me all my life. Take care, and have Kathie give you a hug for me! Love, Phyllis
Thank you so much, my T.T. I will have a big surprise to show mom when she comes over. Many responses on my FB page as well. Love back to you and Ron.
