Wish I could have been part of this awesome 45th class reunion. I was here in Las Vegas thinking of all of the wonderful memories and my friends. I remember something special about each of your endearing faces. We certainly had it all in Iowa Falls. “This feeling will not end.”

“Goodnight Irene,” a pic from my friend in North Carolina after Irene passed. Mother Nature’s way of apologizing.
God’s way of reminding us who is in charge.

(to Dolly Parton’s Jolene Lyrics)
Irene, Irene, Irene, Irene,
I’m begging of you please don’t slam our land
Irene, Irene, Irene, Irene,
Please don’t slam it just because you can.
Your destruction is beyond compare
With wind and rain you just don’t care
With a flaming eye of storming surge
You bring your rampage with a curse
Take it on back out to sea
We don’t want you or your misery.
Irene, Irene, Irene, Irene,
I’m begging of you please don’t slam our land
Irene, Irene, Irene, Irene,
Please don’t slam it just because you can.

but why take a chance?”
Thank you United Spinal Association 2012 Calendar
I love it!
The Las Vegas Tenors, Bobby Black, Chris Riggins, and Corwyn Hodge performed a
magnificant Fourth of July concert at the South Point, Las Vegas, NV for an early
afternoon spectacular. The fireworks, presented in the form of musical selections,
celebrated our troops, country, history, boy bands, pop, and opera.
Bobby, thank you for Bring Him Home.
America the Beautiful brought the house to it’s feet,
and two special guests from American Idol and The Jersey Boys
sparked the audience with glee for their performances.
From the first note to the last,
the Las Vegas Tenors certainly exploded on stage with fireworks to remember.
They can be followed on Facebook and their bio can be read on The Tenor Site.

Green River
A Green River at the Princess Cafe in Iowa Falls, Ia is like a holiday to me. The green liquid bubbles shimmer in the fountain-style glass as it’s placed on the jet black countertop. I love it and the memories it evokes soak my mind.
The Princess–Sweet Shop is an outstanding example of Art Deco design from 1935. The Carrara glass façade, and streamlined woodwork are typical of Art Deco design of the 1920s and 1930s, but a rarity in a small town in Iowa. This building replaced a brick building, which burned on Christmas day 1934. The owners displayed a great deal of faith in the architect, and in the people of Iowa Falls too. The community was somewhat surprised when a drawing of the new façade was released to the newspaper. Not only was the design modern, both inside and out, but the equipment was utmost in efficiency and convenience. It was the first building in town to be air-conditioned. Gas ranges replaced the old wood and coal stoves that had been used before the fire, and gas water heaters provided sufficient water for the washing and sterilizing of the dishes. The total cost for the building and equipment of the Princess was approximately $30,000, a surprising amount during the years of the Great Depression. (read more and see the pictures right here)
If your travels take you to Iowa Falls, you must visit the Princess. Don’t go there without ordering a Green River, however. And when you do, dedicate one sip to me, then enjoy the rest all by yourself.

If I Could be an Easter Egg
If I could be an Easter egg but I’m just white, you see
I’m different, people tell me, because of ASD.
I’d like to be a rainbow so beautiful and bright
I would soak up all the rain and radiate the light.
I have words written on my shell, many thoughts I have indeed.
I want to say those words to you to tell you of my need.
This chocolate egg is rich and good the one everybody wants.
Because of my behaviors, I’m usually in for taunts.
The words “I love you” I can’t always say, but I just hope you know
When I hug and kiss you, that’s how I let it show.
I want to drive a car some day as other people do.
I want to do so many things, if you only knew.
Then there is the special egg that children love to see
I close my eyes and say a prayer that one day it will be me.
I march in rows with other friends but only in my dreams
So many things I want, so many things it seems.
To take my part in this group and visit for a while
Oh, how happy I would be and wear a great big smile.
If I could be an Easter egg for one Happy Easter Day
I’d jump and sing like other kids and run, dance, and play.
Yes, ASD is part of me and it will always be.
I’ll grow, learn, and become a man and you’ll be proud of me.
So mom and dad, ‘I love you,’ in my own special way.
Let me be your perfect egg on this very Easter Day.

KATHIE’S HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD LIST
Let me say this
Before I start my list.
I didn’t see them all
That would be a giant call.
Even some that I did see
I didn’t like that well for me.
But all, in all, this list for you to see
