Published Writings
I have loved writing since I was in the second grade. My first short story back then was titled, “The Little Black Bag.”
Today, I have no recollection of what that story was about but I do know that it started me on this journey of pleasure and fulfillment. The joy of writing!

I have three loves in my life: my family and friends, my career, and my writing. I’d like to share some of my writing with you on this page and you’ll find more throughout Kathie’s World. So come on into my world of words. Read the stories and blog about them. Perhaps you have other stories that you want to share or perhaps these will inspire you to do some writing of your own.
Anthologies:
Whistling Pete A 6th Helping of Chicken Soup for the Soul
The Basket Lady Chocolate for a Teen’s Soul
Katie’s Diamond Chocolate for a Teen’s Soul
This story is authored by Kathie’s daughter, Katie Harrington Stricklin.

“The Measure of Love” and “My Patchwork Quilt” The National Library of Poetry

You’ll want to read Kathie’s newest Christian romance,
Shilo at White Rose Publishing. The digital release date is May 8, 2009.
Shilo is the tale of two adults with autism who share one romance. As Neil Diamond sings in Shilo “When Children play, seems like you end up alone.” NOT for Holly and Hall. NOT this time. You’ll cheer!
Autism ~ Read it ~ Feel it ~ Understand it!

As a young mother I discovered The Sense of Wonder by Rachel Carson. I go back to the words she wrote and the images she emplores at least once every year. If you haven’t discovered the wonder of Rachel Carson, you must.
“If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder without any such gift from the fairies, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.” R.C.
“I sincerely believe that for the child, and for the parent seeking to guide him, it is not half so important to know as to feel. If facts are the seeds that later produce knowledge and wisdom, then the emotions and the impressions of the senses are the fertile soil in which the seeds must grow.” R.C.
Read The Sense of Wonder and grow with your children.
